Mathys Tel is great but should not be a Chelsea priority this month – Talk Chelsea

Look, Mathys Tel I think is a very good player and has a big future ahead of him. But he’s just 19-years-old and remains relatively unproven. I’d absolutely love to see him arrive at Chelsea as long as we signed the correct striker profile as well as him. I’d not be complaining about signing a player of his talent at all, and yes, we do need a left-sided attacker with the Mykhailo Mudryk situation up in the air. But that can wait until the summer.

However, if there is an opportunity to get Tel now in an unofficial swap deal for Christopher Nkunku, then I have no dramas with that at all. Go do it, but PLEASE still go and sign a striker as well. I’m NOT have that Tel is going to be our striker we bring in and that is that.

Tel is a wide forward, he is more of a left winger than a striker. We have that in Nicolas Jackson. We need a DIFFERENT profile to challenge Jackson and give us another option. We need a FOCAL point up top to aim for. We need someone to hold onto the ball, link-up play, and BULLY centre backs. Tel isn’t that. He will help us with goals, for sure, he has a great shooting technique and can score some very good goals off the left.

But please, I am NOT accepting this is our new striker option, IF that happens. Go and find the right profile to bring in. I’m not hearing any excuses on this one. I don’t want to hear that ‘there just isn’t the opportunities around or the availability.’ You’ve had FIVE transfer windows to find a suitable striker profile, not just one month. Come on, man.
