Blues come from behind to go fourth

Chelsea rallied after the break to come from a goal down and beat West Ham on Graham Potter’s return to Stamford Bridge.

The home side were out of sorts for large periods and Potter’s well organised visitors took advantage an a deserved lead at the end of the first half through Jarrod Bowen.

But a much-improved display in the second half was rewarded when Pedro Neto swept in an equaliser.

And Cole Palmer – inevitably – had a hand in the winner when his low cross/shot looped in off Aaron Wan-Bissaka to give Chelsea the points which took them back to fourth in the Premier League.

Potter, on his first return to the ground since he was sacked by Chelsea in 2023, will have seen plenty to be enthused about.

Bowen was back from injury to feature for the first time in 2025 and was excellent throughout, opening the scoring with a brilliant low finish after a mistake by Levi Colwill.

Enzo Maresca had seen enough and made four changes by the 52nd minute.

And one of those, former Wolves winger Neto, drew them level with a powerful finish after Marc Cucurella turned the ball back across goal.

Palmer – who had seven shots on goal in the game – then drove into the area and fired in a ball which looped over the head of Alphonse Areola via the former Manchester United full-back Wan-Bissaka.

Mohammed Kudus had a late shot blocked as the Hammers fought through seven minutes of added time but Chelsea held on.
