World Kabaddi is a registered governing body for the sport of kabaddi with 56 national federation members from around the globe and five continental governing bodies.
World Kabaddi has organised numerous international tournaments around the world including the 2019 World Cup, several European and African championships. We are also planning to host both and an Asia-Oceania and the Pan American Championships later this year.
As the only kabaddi international governing body registered outside of India, our priority is the global development of kabaddi and serving the best interests of the sport. It is for this reason we are always open to collaboration with other kabaddi governing bodies, while maintaining our autonomy and independence.
The ongoing Kabaddi World Cup in the West Midlands – the first ever to be held outside of Asia – is an officially sanctioned event of World Kabaddi and is being held in full compliance with World Kabaddi’s statutes. The event is central to the sport’s global development and ensuring that people from countries around the world engage in our sport. The World Cup is a legitimate elite tournament held under the World Kabaddi banner and conducted for our own membership. It is not under the supervision or authority of any other organisation except for World Kabaddi.
The positive impact of the tournament is evident through the widespread support it has received from our community, fans in the venues and on social media as well as viewers on the various broadcast channels around the globe. World Kabaddi is focused on delivering an unforgettable event in the coming days, prioritising the best experience for athletes, fans and the kabaddi community. Additionally ensuring that it generates a long-term legacy that unites the sport and supports its development worldwide.
World Kabaddi’s priority now is to successfully conduct the ongoing Kabaddi World Cup and will respond accordingly after the conclusion of the first Kabaddi World Cup to be held outside of the Asian continent.
