Pasig City, Philippines, April 19, 2025 – The Philippines and the rest of Asia are all in high spirts in anticipation of the 1st AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League to be held between April 20-27, 2025 at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, located within the host country’s National Capital Region.
A rebrand of the annual AVC Club Championships, the AVC Champions League banners an all-new logo while prize money awaits the winning teams. With the support of Volleyball World, the AVC has taken bold measures to attune the Champions League along the innovations of the sport to appeal to a wider audience, even outside and beyond Asia.
The competition features a total of 12 powerhouse teams to contend two qualification berths that will send the champions and vice-champions to the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship.
Creamline Cool Smashers (PHI), Zhetyssu VC (KAZ) and Al Naser Club (JOR) form Pool A, with PetroGazz Angels (PHI), Taipower (TPE), and Hip Hing Women’s Volleyball Team (HKG) playing in Pool B.
Pool C teams include Baic Motor Volleyball Club (CHN), VTV Binh Dien Long An (VIE), Saipa Tehran (IRI), while Pool D features Nakhon Ratchasima QminC (THA), PLDT High Speed Hitters (PHI), and Queensland Pirates (AUS).
AVC President Ramón Suzara expressed his full trust and confidence in the Local Organizing Committee in mounting the very first edition of the event. “With this wealth of hosting experience, I’m confident that the 1st AVC Women’s Champions League will be held smoothly and successfully in the Philippines in terms of organization, team participation, and fan engagement,” he said.
Premier Volleyball League (PVL), the Philippines’ first and only professional volleyball circuit, under Sports Vision Management, Inc. is lending its event expertise to the Champions League, with the host federation, the Philippine National Volleyball Federation taking on technical responsibilities.
PVL President and LOC Director General Richard Palou underlined the importance of hosting all 12 teams competing for the first Champions League trophy. “The PVL will surely be able to learn from the AVC, as this marks the first time we are organizing an international event. I am confident that this will improve and elevate our service level and expertise in the field of organizing events,” said Palou.
Following the General Technical Meeting on Saturday evening, teams showed no less than ardor and excitement heading into the maiden edition of the event.
The Control Committee has likewise confirmed all systems in place, with the best and most updated Competition Technology set-up in use. The championship in Pasig City marks the first time that the AVC shall utilize VolleyStation, including the Team Tablet Technology. The court layout will likewise follow specifications used for Volleyball World’s Volleyball Nations League.
PhilSports Arena, which has hosted unforgettable events such as the Southeast Asian Games, FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix, and other earlier AVC Championships, also sports sleek collaterals from renowned branding firm The Look Company.
AVC President Suzara imparted his profound gratitude to the LOC, as he said: “I would like to take this opportunity to extend my deepest appreciation to organisers, PNVF, and Premier Volleyball League for their excellent cooperation and support to host the AVC Women’s Champions League. He also mentioned and acknowledged the importance of the sport’s followers for their impactful contribution to each and every event.
