NEW YORK—Jack Draper has been disarmed by a left arm injury.
The fifth-seeded Draper officially withdrew from the US Open today due to a linger injury in his left arm. Draper’s withdrawal sends Belgian Zizou Bergs into the third round where he will face either 31st-seeded Canadian Gabriel Diallo or Spaniard Jaume Munar.
Indian Wells champion Draper has been battling a bone bruise in his left arm. The injury compelled him to pull out of the entire North American hard-court season leading up to Flushing Meadows.
Draper played last week’s US Open Mixed Doubles tournament partnering Jessica Pegula, but struggled hitting smashes and his serve speed was noticeably down.
Hi guys, I’m sorry to say I’ll be withdrawing from the US open. I tried my very best to be here and give myself the every chance to play but the discomfort in my arm has become to much and I have to do what is right and look after myself. Thank you for all the support.

“I’m sorry to say I’ll be withdrawing from the US Open,” Draper posted on social media. “I tried my very best to be here and give myself every chance to play but the discomfort in my arm has become to much and I have to do what is right and look after myself.”
Since falling to Marin Cilic in the Wimbledon second round, Draper’s lone singles match was Federico Agustin Gomez in the first round.
