Russell Westbrook and the Sacramento Kings have agreed to a one-year, $3.6 million contract. Westbrook spent last season with the Denver Nuggets, but he opted out of his contract as he was not in their plans for the 2025-26 season.
Westbrook and the Kings maintained contact throughout the offseason. Westbrook also received some level of interest from the New York Knicks early in the offseason. Westbrook had remained focused on signing with an NBA team and had “zero discussions” about playing overseas.
Westbrook previously played with Domantas Sabonis with the Oklahoma City Thunder and also has bonds with DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine.
Last season, Westbrook averaged 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists for the Nuggets in 27.9 minutes across 75 games.
