Knicks Likely Explored Pursuing Joe Mazzulla; Mazzulla Believed To Have Signed Six Year Deal With Celtics

The New York Knicks “likely” explored the possibility of hiring Joe Mazzulla last offseason through backchannels, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

The Knicks requested to speak to five head coaches during their search, including Jason Kidd, Ime Udoka, Billy Donovan, Chris Finch, and Quin Snyder.

The Knicks were denied in each of their requests before eventually hiring Mike Brown.

Mazzulla would go on to sign a multi-year extension with the Celtics in August.

It is believed that Mazzulla signed a six-year deal similar to Brad Stevens.Â
