DAY 2 AT CAVA CUP FOR MEN 2025 IN DHAKA BURSTS INTO FIRE AND FIGHT

Dhaka, Bangladesh, October 23, 2025 — The intensity of the CAVA Cup for Men 2025 soared to new heights on Day 2 at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium, where three gripping encounters kept spectators on the edge of their seats. It was a day defined by power, precision, and passion, as teams battled tooth and nail to strengthen their bid for supremacy in the round-robin stage.

Turkmenistan overpowered Sri Lanka 3–1 (25–22, 25–16, 20–25, 25–20)

The day began with a clash of grit and guile as Turkmenistan locked horns with Sri Lanka. Riding high on momentum from their opening-day victory, the Turkmen side came out all guns blazing.

With Didar Nuryyev and Bayramgeldi Veyisov raining down spikes like thunderbolts, they seized the first two sets with commanding authority.

However, Sri Lanka refused to go down without a fight. Deepthi Ranawaka and Akindu Subasingha spearheaded a spirited comeback in the third set, breathing life back into their campaign. The fourth set turned into a fierce tug-of-war, but Turkmenistan’s composure under pressure proved decisive. They sealed a 3–1 triumph, notching their second straight win to sit comfortably atop the standings.

Afghanistan swept Maldives 3–0 (25–17, 25–20, 25–12)

After a tough Day 1 setback, Afghanistan stepped onto the court with renewed purpose – and it showed. From the opening serve, they unleashed a relentless onslaught that left the Maldives struggling to find their footing. Sabawoon Wardak was in scintillating form, flying high for thunderous kills, throwing himself into digs, and piling up 15 points with apparent ease.

Despite spirited efforts from Razzan Hussain and Huzaam Ali, the Maldivian side couldn’t stem the tide. Afghanistan wrapped up a commanding straight-sets victory, reigniting their campaign and sending a clear message to their rivals — they’re back in the hunt.

Bangladesh outlasted Nepal in five-set thriller 3–2 (25–23, 25–20, 23–25, 16–25, 16–14)

As evening descended on Dhaka and the floodlights came alive, the stage was set for an unforgettable showdown. Backed by a roaring home crowd, Bangladesh went toe to toe with a tenacious Nepalese team in a contest that tested nerves, stamina, and spirit.

The hosts took the early advantage, with Ratul Ahmed and Horosit Biswas dazzling the spectators through their attacking brilliance. Nepal, however, showed tremendous resilience, clawing their way back to force a fifth and decisive set.

What followed was volleyball at its finest – every rally a battle, every point a war. With the score deadlocked at 14–14, tension reached its breaking point. Then came the defining moment: a block, a spike, and an explosion of joy. Bangladesh clinched it 16–14, sending the stadium into rapturous celebration.

With two wins from two outings, Bangladesh now stand shoulder to shoulder with Turkmenistan atop the leaderboard – a source of immense pride and excitement for the home fans.
