Man United vs Brighton: Three storylines to get the juices flowing – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United take on Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford in yet another huge match in the Premier League.

The two sides have played one another 35 times with United coming out on top on 21 occasions.

They have lost nine times with there being five draws in history.

Here are three storylines to look forward to during the match.

Bogey team

United got a rather big monkey off their back last week when they defeated Liverpool at Anfield.

Their record against Brighton is even worse over the years.

The BBC report that, “Manchester United have lost six of their last seven league games against Brighton, only winning one.

This is “double the amount they’d lost against them in their first 17 league meetings”, which included 12 wins.

What’s more, Brighton have won their last three league visits to Old Trafford, with Manchester City being the last team to be on such a streak winning five consecutive matches between 1968 and 1972.

Expect goals

Nonetheless, in spite of Brighton’s dominance in this fixture lately, they do concede goals.

“Brighton have kept just one clean sheet in their last 20 Premier League games, a 2-0 win at Wolves in May.”

United have hardly been free-flowing this season but they have been better at finding the back of the net with the additions of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.

The Old Trafford faithful will hope that United can get some goals this Saturday afternoon.

Danny Welbeck returns

The United academy product played 142 times for his boyhood club, scoring 29 goals.

He left the club in 2014 and has played for Arsenal, Watford and Brighton.

Welbeck has scored 41 goals for the Seagulls, including 11 last season.

The 34 year old has already scored four goals in this campaign, including a brace against Newcastle last weekend.

The former United man has bagged six career goals against the Red Devils and he will surely take some stopping on current form.
