The G League held its annual draft on Saturday. Players who have signed a contract with the G League and whose rights weren’t already held by a G League team were eligible to be drafted.
The South Bay Lakers selected Dillion Jones with the first overall pick. The 6-foot-5 guard was waived by the Washington Wizards during the preseason. Jones was formerly a first-round pick of the Oklahoma City Thunder at the 2024 NBA Draft.
The Osceola Magic selected Tyler Smith with the second overall pick. The 6-foot-9 forward was waived by the Milwaukee Bucks ahead of this season when the team had to cut their roster to 15 players on standard contract. Smith was formerly a second-round pick of the Bucks at the 2024 NBA Draft.
Players signed to G League contracts are NBA free agents and are eligible to sign with any NBA team. The G League season begins on November 7 with the G League Tip-Off Tournament. The G League regular season will begin on December 19.
