Williams to run fan-influenced Gulf livery in Brazil

Williams will run a special fan-designed Gulf livery on the FW47 during this weekend’s Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

Gulf has been a Williams partner since 2023, and across that time there have been multiple livery takeovers featuring the iconic light blue and orange color scheme. The latest saw fans asked to share words that they associate with racing, with the most popular submissions incorporated into the design that will be used in Interlagos.

“As an iconic Formula 1 team with a championship-winning legacy and a plan to win again, we know Atlassian Williams Racing means so much to our millions of fans around the world,” team principal James Vowles said. “This incredible livery campaign with Gulf has really brought that to life, and it will be a privilege to race every lap in Brazil with the passion and emotion of our fans woven into this beautiful design on the car.”

The design features 493 words that were submitted by fans since July, with “Legacy,” “Passion” and “Teamwork” three of the most popular across 140,000 votes.

“The 2025 Driven by Words Gulf x Atlassian Williams Racing livery embodies a seamless fusion of heritage and innovation – where classic racing spirit meets contemporary design,” Williams head of creative design Ed Scott said. “The iconic Gulf orange flows effortlessly from nose to rear wing, framed by the unmistakable pale blue that has defined motorsport history. Timeless in form yet distinctly modern in attitude, the design features bold, purposeful typography inspired by words shared by fans around the world – elegantly woven into clean blue surfaces to create a confident, forward-looking expression of Gulf’s enduring legacy.”

As well as the special livery, earlier this week Williams announced a team name and logo tweak for 2026, swapping Atlassian Williams Racing for Atlassian Williams F1 Team, and including a retro “W” into its new logo.

“I am proud that from next year we will be known as Atlassian Williams F1 Team and carry a logo on our car inspired by our founder Sir Frank Williams and deeply connected with our decades of success,” Vowles added. “As a team we are inspired by our past but excited about our future, and committed to writing a new championship-winning chapter in Williams’ history.

“This evolved team identity reflects who we are, where we are going, and reintroduces our title-winning legacy to a growing F1 audience that was not following the sport when we were last dominant.”
