Coaches from 9 different countries, spanning beyond European borders, completed their Level 1 coaching certification in Kranjska Gora (Slovenia) adding their names to the growing list of those who now hold a World ParaVolley qualification. Twenty coaches, 10 male and 10 female, from a range of different coaching backgrounds came together after completion of their Part A e-learning to attend the 2 day practical with WPV Coach Tutors Nicole Ban (CAN) and Massimo Beretta (ITA).
All coaches applied themselves fully to the thorough and wide ranging programme, which features classroom tactical sessions alongside on court activities which focus on everything from the technical side of the game through to session planning and building an inclusive coaching environment.
This is the third Level 1 coaching course to be held this year, after the courses in Bogota and Kigali. Plans are still being made for courses next year, but candidates can sign up to start the e-learning at any time here.
The group were joined by eight players from the Slovenia national team for the final day where each coach had to deliver a training objective as part of their assessment.
WPV Coach Tutor Nicole Ban reflected that it had been an intense, but thoroughly enjoyable couple of days:
“It has been great to spend two days with such passionate and committed coaches. Some coming from national programmes, while others just starting out with the sport in their home countries. The group have been fantastic and it was a privilege to award them with their Level 1 certificates!”
As the Level 1 coaches departed, certificates in hand, in came the candidates for the Level 2 course which will run over the next three days with Ifet Mahmutovic (BIH) joining Nicole Ban to tutor that practical course – the first Level 2 coaching cto ever be held in Europe.
