Ishan Kishan fired on all cylinders against Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The batter smashed five 6s and a couple of 4s in seven consecutive balls he faced.
Team India, the defending champion and the co-host of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026, is far ahead of their opposition, Namibia, in all departments. As cricket is beyond the equations on paper, Namibia had some hope before today’s match. But the ruthless Ishan Kishan gave them the reality check.
A solo performance of Ishan Kishan
On the sixth over of the first innings, the southpaw was blazing his guns against the pacer JJ Smit. After sustaining a dot ball, the southpaw hit 4 sixes in a row, followed by four to conclude the over. In the next over, when Kishan went on to strike, he continued the momentum with another 6 and 4. He needed only 20 balls to complete his half-century.

Abhishek Sharma is out of the India vs Namibia match because of an upset stomach. In place of him, Sanju Samson went to open the innings with Ishan. Samson went for 22 off 8, a brief but effective knock. But it was the Jharkhand-born who dragged the Namibian cricketers down on the ground. He was dismissed after scoring 61 off 24, powered by six 4s and five 6s, with a strike rate of 254.17.
This is how Ishan Kishan smacked four back-to-back sixes and then a four in the sixth over of the first innings:
5.1: 0 runs
5.2: Six runs
5.3: Six runs
5.4: Six runs
5.5: Six runs
5.6 : Four runs
Ishan Kishan continues the streak:
In the next over, the Indian opener produced another set of a 6 and a four; this time the victim was Max Heingo. Overall, he hit seven boundaries in a row to score 38 runs.
Meanwhile, Team India won the match by a huge margin of 93 runs. It was a massive result for the team, as the focus will gradually shift to Colombo, where the Men in Blue will face their arch rivals Pakistan on February 15.
If the batting of Kishan came in a big way, the return of Jasprit Bumrah, who delivered the full four overs of his quota, also marked the match as significant for India. Yadav also informed that the pacer is all set to play the next match as well.
“It was a big plus to see Bumrah bowl a quota of all four overs. Good to have him back in the side. He’s all set to go for the next game as well,” Yadav said.
Batting first, India scored 209 runs in exchange for 9 wickets, mostly supported by Ishan Kishan’s 61 run knock, and Hardik Pandya’s 52-run innings. The total proved too much for the Namibia cricket team. They bundle only for 116 runs in the second phase of the match. Varun Chakravarthy took 3 wickets for Team India, and a brace each for Pandya and Axar Patel.
