Manchester United are reportedly lining up a major trade-off to secure the signing of Borussia Dortmund defender Julian Ryerson.
United want Ryerson
Having splashed most of their transfer kitty on the forward line last summer, United are now preparing for another busy window.
Other positions are expected to take priority, chiefly the middle of the park and if funds allow, the defence. There have been noises that United are eager to recruit a right-back, with Ryerson emerging as a target.
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United are among the clubs keeping tabs on the player, who is enjoying a fine season with Dortmund. Ryerson, capable of playing on both flanks, has notched an impressive 11 assists in 20 Bundesliga appearances so far this term.
He has 13 assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.
In addition to lining up at both full-back positions, the Norway international can also be deployed at centre-back and midfield. Such is his versatility.
It was stated that Dortmund value Ryerson at £35 million. Now, Sporten have given an update, indicating that United are prepared to triple his salary to successfully lure him to Old Trafford.
Ryerson update
According to Sporten, who describe Ryerson as “flawless”, United are “willing to go to great lengths” to win the race for the player.
It’s said that United “have promised” to triple his salary.
The report notes that Ryerson currently earns around £830,000 a year at Dortmund. In addition to United, Newcastle are also pursuing him and is willing to triple his wages.
Ryerson wants to move to England and test himself in the toughest league in the world. A move to United would also mean competing with Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot for a place in the side.
Meanwhile, United return to action next Monday when they face Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
