Srixon Blacks Out Its ZXi Irons

Now that launch season is done, it’s time for a new limited-edition season to begin.

Srixon is kicking things off with its Blackout Collection featuring its 2025 ZXi5 and ZXi7 irons in a limited-edition Black Chrome finish. The rest of the package features special Blackout soft goods that you’ll see Srixon staffers using this weekend at the Genesis Invitational.

Limited-edition black finish irons have become a standard move for OEMs with irons on a two-year sales cycle. The idea is to give sales a midlife kick in the pants. The irons themselves are the same as the standard ZXi5 and ZXi7 irons, just with a Black Chrome finish.

Same stuff, darker vibes

Srixon’s ZXi irons scored eight wins on the PGA Tour last year. The ZXi5 finished fifth overall in the MyGolfSpy 2025 player’s distance iron testing (just 0.2 points out of first) while the ZXi7 copped top honors (by a relative landslide) in the player’s iron category.

With that kind of performance, you can certainly ask why the ZXi series would need a second-year boost. Golf equipment, as you no doubt know, is all about what’s new and shiny, so any new twist can only help.

“The modern golfer is looking for more than just performance,” says Srixon Senior Product Manager Casey Schultz. “They want their equipment to reflect their style and individuality, too.”

In that respect, the real news is Srixon’s Blackout Collection of soft goods. The collection features three bags including a limited-edition Srixon x Vessel Golf stand bag ($499.99). There’s also a blacked-out Srixon SC3 stand bag ($279.99) and a blacked-out staff bag ($549.99) like the one Srixon staffers will be using this weekend at the Genesis.

Srixon staffers will also be wearing the limited-edition blacked-out Tour hat ($34.99) and sporting a limited-edition Srixon driver headcover ($39.99).

Srixon ZXi Black Chrome irons: Price and availability

Black Chrome is considered a durable, high-quality finish in the same neighborhood as a higher-end Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) or a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) finish. Black Chrome is an electroplated chromium coating that’s a real metallic chrome layer that’s harder and more scratch-resistant than standard chrome. It’s used for gun barrels, automotive trim, watches, tools and industrial components.

Yeah, it’ll show some wear over time. No, it won’t wear off the first time you hit them.

The Srixon Black Chrome ZXi5 and ZXi7 irons will come with special gunmetal Dynamic Gold MID 115 Tour Issue shafts and a gray Golf Pride MCC grip.

Both will retail for $1,599.99 for a seven-piece set. They’ll hit retail on March 3.
