Chelsea problems on the pitch are clear in recent stats lists

You want to talk data then, yeah? OK, let’s talk some data….

Chelsea’s problems in the shape of data.

Our highest take-ons is level to a midfielder

Image

Chelsea lack players who want to take opponents on. Obviously this would probably have Estevao on this list if he would have been playing more this season, so we must take that into account. But how is our player with the most take-ons level with a centre midfielder? Wild. Why is taking players on becoming such a frowned upon skill?

We aren’t winning enough in the air in attack or defence

Image

This is a major one for me. Not one player in the top 10 here. We aren’t winning enough in the air up top or at the back. The Premier League is a big league, we need to be more aerial dominant, it’s a major flaw we have and once again that’s down to poor and naïve squad building.

We need more goal contributors

Image

We are heavily reliant on Joao Pedro for our source of goals right now. We need more pure goal scorers.

We don’t shoot enough

Image

To score goals, you have to shoot. We don’t take enough shots. We are constantly trying to pass it into the net. Get me another couple of Jimmy Hasselbaink’s on this team – one touch and BANG!

Creativity is heavily relying on Enzo

All our creativity at the moment is coming though Enzo Fernandez. Others need to step up. Cole Palmer’s form has been majorly dipping up and down and that has been a problem. Estevao playing more would also help with this.

We aren’t direct enough

Image

Once again, football is simple to me, or at least it can be. We just aren’t playing direct enough. But that’s the style of play the club want I guess.

We aren’t physical enough

Another HUGE one for me. Moises Caicedo is a great interceptor and can tackle. But physicality wise, we lack big time. The Premier League is the most physical league in the world, and our squad has not been built with that in mind. Absolutely ludicrous.

On another note, Jordan Pickford is criminally under rated and Elliot Anderson’s stats are just madness

I don’t know why Jordan Pickford gets so much stick and is consistently laughed at. I love him, I think he’s a brilliant stopper to have as your last line of defence. He’s a s**t-houser but also just a damn good goalkeeper. The stats prove it. I guess because he doesn’t do rabonas in the 18-yard box it means he’s shite?

And Elliot Anderson’s stats are insane. He is literally in the majority of these top 10 lists, even ones he shouldn’t be in as a midfielder. I know some people have questioned him, which I find a bit odd. But Anderson is turning into some all round player without a doubt. He won’t be joining Chelsea though, I suspect he winds up at Man City.

Just a few examples of why we’re struggling so much….. It’s a mix of tactics and bad recruitment.
