TaylorMade won our 2026 Best Driver test. The Qi4D finished at the top of the leaderboard and, if you’ve followed our testing, you already know what that means. It showed up across all three scoring categories in a way very few drivers do.
Once you move past the single winner and start looking at the full lineup each company brought to the table, the conversation shifts.
TaylorMade may have had the best driver.
Callaway may have had the better group of drivers in 2026.
Callaway versus TaylorMade driver scores 2026
Here’s a look at how TaylorMade and Callaway drivers fared in 2026 testing.
Callaway placed three drivers right behind the Qi4D and a fourth not far off the pace. The Quantum Max and Quantum Triple Diamond came in at 9.1 and the rest of the lineup stayed tightly grouped.
TaylorMade’s lineup looks a little different. You get the Qi4D at the top and a strong showing from the Qi4D LS but, after that, there’s more separation.
TaylorMade had the best individual driver. Callaway gave you more options that performed at a similar level.
| Brand | Model | MGS Score | Accuracy | Distance | Forgiveness |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TaylorMade | Qi4D | 9.2 | 9.2 | 9.3 | 9.1 |
| TaylorMade | Qi4D LS | 8.9 | 8.5 | 9.1 | 9.0 |
| TaylorMade | Qi4D Max Lite | 8.4 | 8.7 | 7.7 | 9.2 |
| TaylorMade | Qi4D Max | 8.2 | 8.3 | 8.0 | 8.3 |
| Callaway | Quantum Max | 9.1 | 9.2 | 9.5 | 8.5 |
| Callaway | Quantum Triple Diamond | 9.1 | 9.1 | 9.4 | 8.5 |
| Callaway | Quantum Triple Diamond Max | 8.9 | 8.6 | 9.2 | 8.7 |
| Callaway | Quantum Max D | 8.8 | 8.6 | 9.4 | 8.3 |
The distance story looks a little different once you dig into the data
Callaway’s entire lineup lives in the mid 250s. There isn’t much separation from one head to the next.
TaylorMade gives you two drivers that can keep up at the top end. The Qi4D and Qi4D LS are right there. But once you move past those, the numbers fall off into the 240s.
| Brand | Model | Avg. Total Distance |
|---|---|---|
| Callaway | Quantum Max | 255.2 yards |
| Callaway | Quantum Triple Diamond | 254.4 yards |
| Callaway | Quantum Max D | 254.0 yards |
| Callaway | Quantum Triple Diamond Max | 252.8 yards |
| TaylorMade | Qi4D LS | 253.7 yards |
| TaylorMade | Qi4D | 253.3 yards |
| TaylorMade | Qi4D Max | 247.6 yards |
| TaylorMade | Qi4D Max Lite | 245.4 yards |
The most-forgiving TaylorMade driver gives up the most distance
The Qi4D Max Lite is one of the most forgiving drivers in the test with a 9.2 forgiveness score, but it’s the shortest TaylorMade driver at 245.4 yards. You’re looking at more than eight yards compared to the longest TaylorMade and even more when you compare it to Callaway’s top end.
The Max Lite isn’t trying to be the longest driver. It’s built to keep you in play and make your misses better. There’s a trade-off but for, some golfers, it may be worth it.
Which one is better?
That depends on how you look at it.
TaylorMade built the best driver in our 2026 test. Callaway built the deeper lineup, giving golfers more options that perform at a high level without much drop-off. Go hit them both and see which one works best for your game.
