IM Renato Terry blazed to a second straight Bullet Brawl victory on Saturday after triumphing over GM Jose Martinez in a sprint to the finish. Martinez and Terry were neck and neck for most of the second half until a 10-game winning streak saw the latter leapfrog his rival.
Terry will receive $400 for his victory, while Martinez, GM Arjun Erigaisi, and GM Oleksandr Bortnyk will take home $250, $150, and $100, respectively, for their top-four finishes. Meanwhile, Greek FM Anastasia Avramidou claimed the $100 best women’s prize.
The next edition of Bullet Brawl will commence on Saturday, April 18, at 12 p.m. ET/18:00 CET.

The latest Bullet Brawl featured 133 titled participants, spearheaded by five 3200+ players: Bortnyk, Martinez, Terry, Arjun, and GM Pranav Venkatesh.
Yet, it was a 15-year-old, FM Bryan Enming Lin, who found himself at the top of the leaderboard two-thirds of the way through the arena. Pranav and Arjun were two of Lin’s finest scalps, and in the former of these games, a brilliancy on the 10th move of the Caro-Kann gave Lin a decisive material advantage.
Later, Lin only needed 19 moves to flatten Arjun, courtesy of a thematic tactic in a major-piece endgame. See if you can spot the winning move below.
The FM’s reign soon came to an end after being defeated by Arjun—four consecutive losses led to a slump that Lin never recovered from, and he eventually landed in 10th place.
During this time, a chasing pack comprising the five top seeds began to surge. Martinez was the first to break away from the pack. His proficiency in complicated positions came in handy against some of his trickier opponents. Against Pranav, Martinez procured a horde of pawns that stormed up the board and rendered Pranav’s rooks useless.
Terry had the lowest score before the breakaway and sat 11 points off the pace; however, he had the strongest finish of everyone. An inspired 16/17 finish, which included wins over GMs Pranav, Arjun, Parham Maghsoodloo, Tuan Minh Le, Cristobal Henriquez Villagra, as well as IM Yoseph Taher, catapulted Terry into the top spot.
Most of Terry’s wins in the streak were gritty rather than flashy, except for a game against Taher that spiraled into pandemonium after Terry lost a piece. With his back against the wall, Terry launched a Hail Mary queenside pawn storm that paid off.
With three Bullet Brawl wins now under his belt, Terry has become one of just nine players to have a trio of wins. Based on his recent form, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Terry climb further up the all-time leaderboard.
