Unbeaten Teams Dominate as Main Draw Intensifies at AVC Beach Tour Samila Open 2026


SONGKHLA, THAILAND — The intensity rose on Day 2 of the AVC Beach Tour 25th Samila Open 2026, as teams battled through the main draw with several pairs maintaining unbeaten records and securing top positions in their respective pools.

In the men’s division, Australia’s Hood/Hodges continued their dominant run, defeating Kazakhstan’s Yakovlev/Mokhammad in straight sets to remain unbeaten atop Pool D. Indonesia’s Bintang/Sofyan also stayed perfect in Pool E after overcoming Philippines’ Abdilla/Rosales, while Australia’s Potts/Pearse secured top spot in Pool C with a straight-sets victory over New Zealand’s Smith/Tyler.

Qatar’s Cherif/Ahmed finished strong in Pool B, defeating Hong Kong China’s L.F. Lee/C.H. Lee to complete a perfect run. Host nation Thailand thrilled the home crowd as Dunwinit/Banlue defeated Qatar’s M. Alkeer/M. Ihab to top Pool A, while T. Pithak/M. Wachirawit dominated China’s Li Wei/Du Hongjun to secure first place in Pool G. China’s Zhang Tai/Ch. W. Zhou also emerged on top of Pool H after overcoming Thailand’s Netitorn/T. Poravid in a tightly contested three-set match.

In the women’s division, Thailand’s Naraphornrapat/Worapeerachayakorn maintained a flawless run, defeating Kazakhstan’s Kabulbekova/Kurdyumova in straight sets to lead Pool A. Philippines’ Progella/Pagara delivered one of the standout performances of the day, beating Japan’s Shiba/Reika in straight sets to secure top position in Pool B.

New Zealand’s Polley/MacDonald remained unbeaten after defeating Kazakhstan’s Karimova/Ryukhova, while Australia’s Fleming/Alchin topped Pool D with a win over New Zealand’s Tiplady/Green. Japan’s Ren/Non continued their strong campaign with a victory against Thailand’s Samitta/Somruedee, and Australia’s Rayner/Fejes secured Pool F after defeating Philippines’ Villapando/Eslapor.

Elsewhere, China’s Yu T./Qi S.Y. overcame Vanuatu’s Toko/Lawac to lead Pool G, while Thailand’s Patcharaporn/Salinda closed out Pool H on top after defeating China’s Cao T./Aheidan.

Action resumes on April 14 with the continuation of the main draw, as teams look to build momentum and strengthen their positions in the tournament.
