Some PRO Features Now Available to All Members

A lot has changed in the chess training world since we launched Chessable in 2016. Many features which were once novel improvements are now common expectations in a chess training platform. 

We’ve taken a look at the features in our PRO offering and found several that make more sense to offer to all users.

Starting today, the following PRO features are now available for free to everyone: 

• Chess set customization
• Alternative engine moves
• Tablebase calculation for endgames
• Deeper explorer depth
• Unlimited position saving
• Advanced time planner
• Difficult move tracking

If you’re not familiar with these features, we explain them below. 

If you’re a PRO member, nothing about the core of your membership is changing. The features you love are staying as is. You still get 30% off any course, anytime, plus access to over 300 PRO-exclusive courses. The features we’re opening up are ones we think should be standard for anyone learning chess on Chessable. The PRO features that we’ve heard from the community are the most important – the exclusive content and savings – are unchanged.

We’ll continue to create our regular PRO-exclusive content, such as Short & Sweet courses and free lessons. We’ll be making them even bigger – more lines, more video, more chess. We’ll also be creating special PRO-exclusive courses such as our Candidates Tournament course and other special courses down the line.

This is what we want PRO to be about: access to exclusive content, pricing, and special features such as Offline Mode – not basic features any chess site offers in 2026. 

We really appreciate the entire Chessable community, which continually gives us great feedback. We hope that releasing these features to the entire community shows, at least in a small way, our gratitude.

The PRO features now available to all users and what they do

Alternative engine moves

Now, any member can toggle how many lines show up while using the engine, up to 5. Before, basic members could show only 1. 

Tablebase calculation for endgames

Any member can now turn on the tablebase for positions with 7 pieces or fewer. The tablebase will display the winning or drawing sequence for that position:

Deeper explorer depth

All members already have access to the Opening Explorer feature, but originally win/draw/loss statistics were available only until move 5 for basic members. Now, all members have win/draw/loss statistics at any depth.

Saved position limit

Before, basic members could only save up to 20 positions. Now, anyone can save an unlimited number of positions.

Advanced time planner

Now, all members have the advanced time planner widget on the right side of their dashboard, below the Daily Goal widget. This feature tracks how many moves you’ll have up for review and when, allowing you to manage your study load more effectively.

Difficult move tracking

If you repeatedly get a move wrong in your review sessions, it’ll be tracked on your dashboard. Difficult moves will be removed from the list when you play the move correctly multiple times (reach level 6 in the spaced repetition schedule).

By clicking the difficult move icon, you can focus on the particular variations that you need to work on.
