Kostyuk, Raducanu Pull out of Indian Wells – Tennis Now

Marta Kostyuk, crowned on Sunday as the Madrid Open women’s singles champion, has been forced to pull out of Rome due to an injury.

The No. 23 seed will be replaced by a lucky loser.

“After the best stretch of my career, I was looking forward to Rome,” the 23-year-old Ukrainian wrote on Instagram. “But sometimes your body has other plans, and over the past few days I’ve been dealing with a hip issue. With my ankle still not fully at 100 percent, it’s just not smart to keep pushing right now, so I won’t be competing there this year.”

Raducanu Out with Post-Viral Illness

Emma Raducanu also pulled out of the draw on Tuesday, citing post-viral illness.

The British star practiced in Rome for a few days, and did her pre-tournament media obligations, before deciding to pull the plug.

Raducanu has not competed since falling to Amanda Anisimova 6-1 6-1 in her round of 32 match at Indian Wells.

She has subsequently pulled out of events in Miami, Linz, Madrid and Rome.
