The Latest on the Nashville Predators GM Search

The Nashville Predators GM search continues

Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman, on the 32 Thoughts: The Podcast – Pressure, Punishment, and Presidents episode, when asked about the Nashville Predators GM search. There is nothing imminent. There may be a curveball or something that is not guaranteed. Does it involve someone whose team is still in the playoffs?

Friedman: “I still do not believe an announcement is imminent.

Jason Robertson Trade Options, and Minnesota Wild Trade Targets

I will say this, Kyle, what is Nashville doing might be the number one question across the NHL right now. As this process has continued, more and more people are asking. It’s sort of like waiting for your favorite show if it goes on a 16-month hiatus, when is this thing finally dropping? People start to ask. And it’s kind of that way with Nashville.

And again, I do find their position defensible in the sense that, if there’s somebody they really want, and you have to wait, wait. You have to get this right.

All I know about the Predators is an announcement is not imminent, but I do acknowledge that when I talked about a curve ball, it’s not a guarantee here, but I think it’s possible. I believe the Predators are working on something, or want the opportunity to work on something that is not guaranteed.

But they are not going to close their process unless they know whether or not they can actually do it.

So whatever is preventing them from closing the loop or finalizing things, they’re going to wait it out until they get at least the opportunity to talk to the person they want.

And they’re being very guarded on what this might be, and someone said to me on Sunday, ‘Elliotte, you’re not the only one who’s going nuts trying to figure out what this
is.’”

GM Candidates for the Predators, and the Blackhawks Are Already Loaded With Young Defensemen

Kyle Bukauskas: “So, at the risk of I don’t want to get you in trouble, but it sounds like they’re trying to talk to somebody whose team is still chasing a Stanley Cup.”

Friedman: “I think that’s possible, possible. But I do want to be careful, because I don’t know for sure, and I don’t want to throw out some guess that causes unnecessary carnage.”
