CAVA Women’s Volleyball Championship 2026 Continues With India, Nepal and Kazakhstan Victories


KATHMANDU, Nepal — India, Nepal and Kazakhstan secured victories Saturday as the CAVA Women’s Volleyball Championship 2026 continued at the NSC Indoor Hall in Kathmandu.

Kazakhstan opened its campaign in Pool B with a straight-sets win over Sri Lanka, 25-9, 25-18, 25-15. Yuliya Fomenko led Kazakhstan with 13 points, while Bota Uatayeva and Kristina Belova added eight and six points, respectively. Sri Lanka’s Abesingha Prithika Pramodhini paced her team with eight points.

India followed with another dominant performance in Pool A, defeating Maldives 25-9, 25-14, 25-17 to improve to 2-0 in the tournament. Arya Kuriyedath scored a match-high 12 points for India, while Prerona Pal contributed 10 points and Shaalini Saravanan added eight. Hawwa Rashidha led Maldives with six points.

Host nation Nepal closed the day with a straight-sets victory over Kyrgyzstan, 25-18, 25-20, 25-13, in front of an energetic home crowd. Regmi Sumitra led Nepal with 16 points, while Bista Kamana added eight and Bhandari Usha contributed six. Kyrgyzstan was led by Aiturgan Aitbekova with 10 points.

Following Saturday’s matches, India leads Pool A with a 2-0 record and five points, followed by Nepal and Kyrgyzstan at 1-1. Maldives remains winless after two matches. In Pool B, Iran and Kazakhstan both hold 1-0 records after their opening victories.

Competition resumes Sunday at the NSC Indoor Hall with Iran facing Sri Lanka at 12:00 p.m., Bangladesh taking on Kazakhstan at 2:30 p.m., and Nepal meeting Maldives at 5:00 p.m.

The CAVA Women’s Volleyball Championship 2026 continues through May 29 in Kathmandu as teams compete for regional honors and strengthen sporting ties across the region.
