Indian opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to deliver with the bat during the ongoing one-off Test against Afghanistan. The left-handed batter perished for just 24 runs off 32 balls to pacer Mohammad Saleem Safi’s bowling at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh.
India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bat first on Day 1 (Saturday, June 6). Openers Jaiswal and KL Rahul made a steady start, adding 41 runs for the first wicket during the opening session. The pair batted cautiously and focused on building partnerships against a disciplined Afghanistan bowling attack.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Departs After 41-Run Opening Partnership With KL Rahul
The pitch offered low bounce and some movement, making batting difficult during the opening hour. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul added 41 runs for the first wicket, although both batters survived early chances.

Jaiswal got a life on 11, while Rahul escaped on 16 after Afghanistan decided not to review a caught-behind appeal despite an edge to the wicketkeeper. However, Afghanistan earned the breakthrough in the 12th over through Mohammad Saleem Safi.
The pacer bowled a length ball down the leg side at 139.2 kph, and Jaiswal got a faint edge while attempting a flick. Wicketkeeper Afsar Zazai completed the catch, and umpire Richard Illingworth gave him out. Jaiswal walked back for 24 off 32 balls, including five fours, while Safi celebrated his maiden Test wicket.

I had already said that the more Yashasvi Jaiswal prepares to play white ball cricket, the more he will spoil his form in Test cricket as well.
