A Steelers Depot daily segment. A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for June 26.

PLAYERS WORK WITH RUSH SPECIALIST

The Steelers’ defense was supposed to be one of the NFL’s best last year. While it underwhelmed, the team is hoping that unit can get back on top in 2026. It doesn’t lack talent, especially up front. The Steelers pride themselves on getting after the quarterback, and that should be one of their strengths this season.

Several Steelers are using some of their personal time to refine that part of their game, too, as Cam Heyward, Nick Herbig, and Keeanu Benton have been working with Dez Walker, as the pass-rush specialist posted on his Instagram page. There’s still a lot of time before training camp starts, but Heyward, Herbig, and Benton are still trying to get better.

SAINT VINCENT PREPPING FIELD

Saint Vincent College has been the Steelers’ training camp home for decades. Located in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, it’s not too far from Pittsburgh. It allows the Steelers to get out of their comfort zone and bond as a team.

Training camp is still around a month away, but Saint Vincent is already preparing for the Steelers’ arrival. Hummer Turfgrass shared on Twitter that Saint Vincent is upgrading its field. It’s an attempt to help water move more efficiently. Rain is common in Latrobe when the Steelers are in town, and hopefully this new field will help them better weather the elements.

HOPKINS STILL WANTS TO PLAY

DeAndre Hopkins used to be one of the NFL’s best wide receivers. He’s made five Pro Bowls, as well as being a first-team All-Pro three times and second-team All-Pro twice. While Father Time has started to catch up to him, he still hopes to play in 2026.

Around the NFL recently shared on Twitter that Hopkins said that he wants to play for a contending team this year. He also said that he understands where he is in his career, and that he’s not a No. 1 wideout anymore. The Steelers seem fine at receiver, but if they want to add another veteran as a depth option, perhaps they’ll consider Hopkins.
