ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Host nation Pakistan remained unbeaten after three days of competition at the CAVA Men’s Volleyball Championship 2026, while Uzbekistan strengthened its title bid and Bangladesh earned a hard-fought victory as round-robin action continued Friday at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex.
Uzbekistan opened the day with a 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-19, 25-21) victory over Sri Lanka in a match that lasted two hours and seven minutes. After splitting the opening two sets, Uzbekistan regained momentum through consistent attacking and disciplined blocking to secure its second consecutive win. The Central Asian side finished with a 77-57 advantage in attack points to remain among the tournament’s leading contenders.
The day’s second match produced the tournament’s most dramatic contest as Bangladesh edged Kazakhstan 3-2 (20-25, 25-21, 25-23, 24-26, 15-12) in another two-hour and seven-minute battle. Kazakhstan claimed the opening set before Bangladesh responded by taking the next two. Kazakhstan forced a deciding fifth set after winning the fourth 26-24, but Bangladesh held its composure in the closing rallies to secure the victory. Although Kazakhstan led 63-60 in attack points, Bangladesh capitalized on 43 opponent errors compared to Kazakhstan’s 27 to claim the win.
Pakistan capped another successful day with a commanding 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-10) victory over Nepal in front of approximately 1,500 home fans. The hosts dominated from start to finish, combining effective serving, efficient attacking, and disciplined defense to complete the match in just 70 minutes. Pakistan held a 47-31 advantage in attack points and continued its unbeaten run with a third consecutive victory.
Following three days of competition, Pakistan remains the only unbeaten team in the championship, while Uzbekistan improved its position in the standings with its second victory. Bangladesh also boosted its campaign with a valuable win over Kazakhstan as the race for the top positions tightened heading into the final stages of the round-robin competition.
The teams will observe a scheduled rest day before the championship resumes, with the remaining matches set to determine the final standings and the race for the 2026 CAVA Men’s Volleyball Championship title.
