Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha opens up on his transfer situation amid Man United links – Man United News And Transfer News

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Matheus Cunha has insisted he has not thought about leaving the club soon, even as he continues to be linked to multiple top teams in the Premier League, including Manchester United.

United are expected to be in the market for a striker in the January transfer window amidst Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee’s struggles for form.

Both United forwards have proven they can’t be relied upon to lead the line for the club, and this was once again on display during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Everton.

In addition to Cunha, other goalscorers mentioned to be on the Red Devils’ radar include Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres, Liam Delap, Benjamin Sesko and Samu Aghehowa.

There was speculation that United explore a move for Cunha in January but he ended up signing a new four-and-a-half-year contract to extend his stay at the Molineux.

It’s understood that his new deal contains a release clause worth around £62m.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United are prepared to trigger this release clause in the summer.

Now, the 25-year-old has opened up on his future, insisting his desire is to continue at Wolves.

Cunha told Football Focus [via 90min], “I never think about leaving, honestly.”

“I know I have a lot of things to do already and I always said that this was the club that gave me the chance to come back.”

“They opened the door for me and I always felt I wanted to give back everything so to leave in this type of situation is hard. I am so happy to be here. I hope to continue doing good things.”

The Brazilian added, “When Wolves came in, one of my dreams was playing in the Premier League and Wolves gave me the opportunity to be here.”

Cunha struck again on Saturday, securing a crucial 1-0 victory for Wolves against 10-man Bournemouth. The goal was his fourth in as many games, taking his top-flight tally for the season to 13 goals in 25 games.
