One player that could come up against Skinner’s side on Wednesday is ex-United goalkeeper Mary Earps, who was a primary topic of questions posed by reporters at the media briefing.

Earps, a key member of the Reds team that won the FA Cup in 2024 before joining Paris later that year, made over a century of appearances across five seasons here, and may face her old colleagues for the first time this week.

“When Mary was here, she was a fantastic ambassador for the club, a fantastic player,” Skinner added on Earps. “You have to pay credit to the quality she had and what she gave to us at that moment. She was part of the FA Cup-winning team. I’ll say nothing but good things.

“The thing is, we move forwards. Phallon [Tullis-Joyce] is an incredible goalkeeper. We were lucky enough to have her to replace another fantastic goalkeeper.

“From our perspective, we’ll welcome her as someone who is on the opponents’ team in this game, but also always pay tribute to what she did at Manchester United. I know Mary’s a good person, I look forward to the challenge of trying to beat her and her team.”
