Marco Jansen takes exceptional catch to dismiss Mohammed Siraj and humiliate India in Guwahati Test

South Africa all-rounder Marco Jansen pulled off an exceptional catch to dismiss Team India lower-order batter Mohammed Siraj on Day 5 (Wednesday, November 26) of the second and final Test in Guwahati. Jansen’s exceptional catch helped the team bowl out the opposition and secured the Test series victory.

India started the final day’s play at 27/2 with Sai Sudharsan and nightwatchman Kuldeep Yadav at the crease. The home team needed to bat for three sessions to save the match. However, they struggled against the South Africa bowling attack and were bowled out for 140 runs in the second session of the Test match.

The ball went high rather than long, and for a moment it looked like it would land safely. Jansen, however, sprinted back from mid-on and kept his eyes fixed on the ball while running at full speed. The ball stuck cleanly in his palm as he tumbled to the ground, completing one of the catches of the series.

The Proteas erupted in disbelief and joy as Jansen was mobbed by his teammates. The dismissal sealed India’s 408-run defeat and confirmed South Africa’s 2-0 series victory, their first Test series win on Indian soil in 25 years.
