Manchester United Women made it a hat-trick of announcements yesterday afternoon.

Busy end of the year

Marc Skinner has spoken at length about how his squad needs more depth for the second half of the season.

United announced the signing of Sweden international Hanna Lundkvist a few days ago after she left San Diego Wave as a free agent.

The Red Devils also announced that popular midfielder Hinata Miyazawa has agreed to a new long-term deal.

Lea Schuller signs

The club added to the post-Christmas excitement with the official announcement that German striker Lea Schüller will also be joining the club.

The club’s official website reported that, “Manchester United is pleased to confirm that Lea Schüller has agreed to join the club on 1st January 2026 from Bayern Munich, subject to international clearance and registration.”

The club also confirmed that she “has agreed a contract until June 2029”, tying her down for the foreseeable future.

The perfect club

The former Bayern Munich star is clearly excited about the move and told the club’s site that, “from the first conversations that I had with Marc and the club, the ambitions of everyone here were very clear.”

She continued, “I still have so much that I want to achieve in my career, and I know that Manchester United is the perfect club to join.”

She also assured fans that she believes the club’s style of football really aligns with how she plays the game and that she hopes her “qualities and experience can help us to achieve our aims both in England and in the Champions League.”

The Director of Women’s Football at Manchester United, Matt Johnson, also added, “Lea’s goalscoring record is phenomenal, her style of play will give our attack an exciting new dimension. We are delighted to add a player of her pedigree to the group.”

He also explained that her experience and winning mentality will hopefully set a great example for the young group.
