Jaylen Brown’s 7uice Foundation Partners With Chess.com To Host Tournament

The 7uice Educational Fair, held on January 31 in Boston, Massachusetts, brought leaders from seemingly unrelated fields to the 64 squares on the chessboard. The 7uice Foundation, founded by Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics, partners with institutions, organizations, and social change leaders to bridge the opportunity gap for youth in traditionally underserved communities.

The event took place at the Yawkey Boys & Girls Club and attracted companies such as Google, NASA, and NBA2K. Over 350 students attended the event.

Chess.com marked its presence with a chess tournament, which was a single-elimination bracket with a 10+0 time control.

Brown grabbed a front-row seat for the championship match and then congratulated the finalists. All three posed for photos, and attending students won vinyl chess sets.

Twenty-nine-year-old Brown is a five-time NBA All-Star who has reached the Eastern Conference finals six times with Boston. He helped the Celtics reach the 2022 and 2024 NBA Finals, winning a championship and Finals MVP award in the latter. He also has a bot on Chess.com that you can challenge.

The event served as a powerful intersection of technology, education, and strategy. Lt. Governor of Massachusetts Kim Driscoll also stopped by the chess tournament to learn more about how chess serves as a transformative educational tool, building the critical thinking skills and resilience necessary for modern leadership.

Chess.com’s Sr. Partnerships Manager Sara Borger said of the event, “Chess.com was thrilled to join so many other impactful organizations at this year’s 7uice Fair—resulting in a day filled with chess, education, and fun!”
