The New Jersey Devils are on track to end the season on a high note. Their last 12 games yielded an 8-4-0 record, complete with ample goalscoring, dominant special teams, and solid goaltending.

Now, the team is entering the home stretch of the season, desperately trying to climb the Metropolitan Division standings before being eliminated from playoff contention. As it stands, 10 games remain, and the Devils have miraculously found consistency.

There are five games slated for this week, ending with back-to-back contests against the Montreal Canadiens. Here are a few storylines to follow for the week of March 29 — April 5, 2026.

Jesper Bratt’s Scoring Streak Snapped

Throughout March, Jesper Bratt has been one of the Devils’ most consistent players in terms of point production and generating scoring chances. He recently went on a seven-game point streak, which included a goal in five consecutive games. Unfortunately, his scoring streak came to an end on Saturday night against the Carolina Hurricanes, where the Devils suffered a 5-2 defeat.

But since the Olympic break, he’s been a driving force on the Devils’ top line, with five multipoint games in March alone. This included three-point games against the New York Rangers and the Nashville Predators, where Bratt contributed a goal and two assists in both games.

This marks the fifth consecutive season where he’s reached 40 assists and 60 points, and he also earned his 500th NHL point earlier this month. Bratt also leads the club in both assists (41) and points (60). For the remainder of the season, the team will look to him as a leader, both as an elite scorer and as one of the longest-tenured current Devils.

Latest Injury Updates

Much like the rest of the 2025-26 season, the Devils are dealing with multiple injuries. Brett Pesce has missed the last 11 games with a lower-body injury, and it is uncertain whether or not he will return to the lineup before the end of the season, per team reporter Amanda Stein.

The team will also be without Arseny Gritsyuk for the foreseeable future, after he suffered an injury late in the third period against the Dallas Stars. As of right now, his status is listed as week-to-week after requiring further evaluation.

Unfortunately, fans will not see Stefan Noesen until next season. The veteran right wing underwent knee surgery in January, but earlier this week, head coach Sheldon Keefe shared that complications with his recovery required another procedure.

Injuries were one of the Devils’ most prevalent issues all season long, so hopefully they’ll be able to close out their last few games without any other incidents.

Tested with Back-to-Backs

March has proven to be a challenging month for the Devils, especially with three sets of back-to-back games. They’ll begin the week wrapping up two consecutive games against the Chicago Blackhawks at home, then hit the road to face the Rangers for the final time this season. 

Their week will end with yet another back-to-back, both of which will be against the Canadiens. The series will begin at Prudential Center on Saturday evening, and then the two teams will face off again at the Bell Centre on Sunday.

As always, these games will test the Devils’ resilience as well as their newfound confidence. Throughout March, they’ve swept only one set of consecutive games, and there are only two sets of back-to-backs left before the season ends. Can they rise to the challenge?
