Jack Draper Pulls out of Madrid, Rome Due to Knee – Tennis Now

Rough injury luck continues for Jack Draper. The former World No. 4, who injured his right knee in Barcelona and was forced to retire in the third set of his match against Tomas Martin Etcheverry, announced today that he will pull out of Madrid and Rome as he works to rehabilitate the knee.

“An aggravated tendon in my knee means I am not able to play in Madrid and Rome,” Draper said, according to the BBC. “It’s frustrating for sure, but I am thankful it isn’t anything more serious. Recovery is going well and I feel good about my chances of being fit for Roland Garros. I am looking forward to building momentum from there.”

Draper missed five months from last year’s US Open with bone bruising in his left arm, and has played nine matches in 2026, going 5-4 with a trip to the round of 16 in his title defense at Indian Wells.

Currently ranked No. 28, Draper is defending runner-up points in Madrid and a quarterfinal at Rome, which means he should drop outside of the Top 50 and perhaps the Top 70. That will probably leave Draper unseeded at Roland-Garros, where he is defending round of 16 points and Wimbledon, where he lost in the second round.
