Mumbai Indians (MI) claimed a wicket inside the powerplay against the home team, Punjab Kings (PBKS), at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. It was a huge moment of the match as the dangerous PBKS opener, Priyansh Arya, departed before claiming a significant individual score. Deepak Chahar provides some relief to the Mumbai Indians.
It was another knuckleball from Deepak Chahar that did the job. On the third ball of the sixth over of the second innings, Priyansh Arya was on the leg side, creating some room for himself to free his arms. Chahar read the opposing batter’s move early and produced the knuckleball.

The batter was in a position to smack the ball, but due to a lack of pace, he missed the ball completely. Priyank Arya was bowled out, and Deepak Chahar celebrated uniquely. The speed of the delivery was only 117 kmph, too slow for the left-handed aggressive batter. PBKS lost their first wicket of the night.

The nature of the pitch has made the match more exciting
Ahead of the match. Danny Morrison informed that the pitch seemed to be a bit tricky as there were some visible black patches as well as some whitish patches on the deck. Those patches could be beneficial for the bowlers. Additionally, he also pointed out that the elevation of the ground, and the way the ball used to travel in the air, could be beneficial for the batters. So, an exciting battle between bat and ball was predicted early in the match.
“We didn’t see an over of spin in the last match. If you want to see flight and guile, this isn’t the pitch; this one looks very similar to the last match. It looks remarkably consistent with the previous game. Those darker patches suggest areas where the bounce might be a bit lower and the surface more ‘grabby,’ whereas the brighter, whitish patches indicate a better-rolled, truer surface,” Danny Morrison said from the pitch side.
“That ‘dual-pace’ nature we witnessed last time is likely to show up again today. However, because of the high altitude and the way the ball travels in this thin air, 200 remains the par score. Batters need to be cautious early on, though, as this surface definitely has enough to keep the bowlers interested,” he added.
The prediction proved on point
As the match progressed, the prediction proved on point as for PBKS, Prabhsimran Singh batted nicely and claimed a half-century as well. On the other side, the bowlers of the Mumbai Indians also got crucial wickets in crucial junctures of the game. Will the Punjab Kings be able to score over 200? It will be interesting to see how the match will progress.
