Jannik Sinner continued his progress this clay-court season by claiming his maiden Rome title.
The Italian is smashing records this spring, so before he begins his next bid for glory at Roland-Garros, let’s break down some of the incredible milestones he has already achieved:
Stay Golden, Jannik
Sinner joins Novak Djokovic as the only player to ever complete the Golden Masters. Djokovic has won each title twice. Sinner, at 24, is the youngest player to achieve the feat. Djokovic was 31 when he completed it in Cincinnati in 2018.
Italian Stallion
Sinner became the first Italian man to win the Italian Open title since Adriano Panatta in 1976. Now he’ll head to Roland-Garros hoping to do the same there.
Masters Maven
By winning Rome, Sinner passed Djokovic on the all-time list for consecutive Masters 1000 match victories. Djokovic’s record stood at 32. Sinner’s active streak now sits at 34.
Sinner is also the first man to win six consecutive Masters 1000 titles, and the first man since Rafael Nadal in 2010 to win all three clay-court Masters events in the same season.
Currently, Sinner is tied with Djokovic (2011, 2015) and Nadal (2013) for the most Masters 1000 titles won in a single season.
Just. Not. Losing.
In Sunday’s Rome final, Sinner recorded his 29th consecutive match victory. It is the longest winning streak of his career, and it ties him with Pete Sampras for the fifth-longest ATP winning streak of the Open Era.
