Andrey Santos is heading into his second season at Chelsea and we’re still not quite sure how the club sees him.

One slightly frustrating thing about the season just gone is how little we learned about Andrey Santos. After finally being integrated into the first team picture, we were keen to find out what he was capable of.
Instead, we come to the end of the campaign with a lot of questions still open from last year. While he did rack up a fair number of minutes through the season, he rarely got a consistent run of games. He was constantly taken in and out of the team, moved around, and often played with the second string.
Santos a question mark for Alonso and beyond
It’s no wonder, then, that Chelsea don’t know what to do with him either. According to the Athletic’s Deal Sheet transfer tracker, the Blues don’t consider him “untouchable.” But “that does not mean Chelsea want to cash in on him.”
If Enzo Fernandez leaves, Santos’ place in the squad already feels more secure. But a lot will depend on what Xabi Alonso makes of him, and that assessment has probably already begun.
In other news…
Chelsea’s 2026-2027 kit is out, although there are some big names conspicuously absent from the launch.
Selling Marc Cucurella would be a quick way to raise some good money this summer – but a lot of fans would object to the idea for this very simple reason.
