The Minnesota Wild can compete with Vegas and Florida for Dylan Larkin, but should they be patient in case others pop up?
Joe Smith and Michael Russo of The Athletic: The Minnesota Wild aren’t moving center Joel Eriksson Ek or defenseman Jonas Brodin in a Dylan Larkin deal, as it would just create another hole that needs filling. The Wild can compete with offers from the Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers, but not if teams like the Montreal Canadiens were in the mix.
Would the Panthers want to give someone like Anton Lundell? Would the Golden Knights want to move the rights to Pavel Dorofeyev?
New York Rangers Vincent Trocheck could the Wild’s Plan B. The Wild could also be patient in case someone like Auston Matthews, Brady Tkachuk or Nico Hischier becomes available.
NHL Rumors: Canadiens, Devils, Nico Hischier, and the center market
Danila Yurov would likely be one player included. The Wild don’t have a first-round picks this year, and no second-round picks over the next three years.
Dylan Larkin may expand his list a little, no request from Zach Werenski, Auston Matthews staying and Anders Lee likely to free agency
Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman has been in constant communication with Dylan Larkin’s agent, Pat Brisson, as they need to work together on this.
Sources say that Yzerman asked for an expanded list from the three teams, and get the sense that Brisson was receptive to it. Many teams have called, including the Dallas Stars, who have RFA forward Jason Robertson. A third team may need to get involved for the Red Wings to get the pieces they want. Don’t believe the Minnesota Wild have all that the Red Wings would want.
There has been no formal announcement, but signs have Auston Matthews staying and playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs next season. Teams like the Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks and Utah Mammoth may be a bit disappointed.
The Edmonton Oilers Interest in Mike Babcock Seems to be Ownership Driven
As of Wednesday afternoon, there hadn’t been any talks between Zach Werenski and the Columbus Blue Jackets about a trade request. There’s been some wondering.
Appears that Anders Lee will be going to free agency. Talks with the New York Islanders continue.
