Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson pulled off one of the biggest shocks of the Paris 2024 Olympics by eliminating Kloth and Nuss in the round of 16, then beat them again in a nail-biting AVP Chicago final later that year. Every meeting between these two duos has gone the distance, and both sides have openly admitted that facing the other always means a battle to the final point.

Nebraska vs. Penn State

American college volleyball doesn’t have a bigger rivalry than this one. Penn State’s dynasty under Russ Rose, capped by four straight national titles from 2007 to 2010, was repeatedly built around statement wins over Nebraska, while the Cornhuskers have returned the favor over the years with their own iconic upsets. It’s safe to say that both of these schools belong among the most successful programs in women’s NCAA volleyball history. 

Their rivalry reached a new peak in the 2024 national semifinal, when Penn State completed a reverse sweep against Nebraska from 22-16 down in the fourth set, one of the most dramatic comebacks in Final Four history.

Brazil vs. Italy

At the international level, no rivalry currently means more than this one. Italy’s women’s national team went 39 straight matches without a loss, a run that included Olympic gold, a World Championship, and back-to-back Nations League titles, before Brazil finally ended the streak in a sold-out Brasília arena in June 2026. On the men’s side, the two nations have traded Olympic finals and World Championship battles for over two decades, and their head-to-head record remains close across every major competition they’ve shared.
