Fabrizio Romano has dropped the long-awaited news – it’s a “here we go” on Alejandro Garnacho’s loan move to Aston Villa.

The winger will go on loan to Villa, with a “buy clause to become mandatory under certain conditions,” according to Romano.

The transfer is not complete yet – Garnacho still has to pass a medical. But the clinic is already booked in, and we should get the announcement before the end of the week, if not tomorrow.

After Morgan Rogers’ move the other way, it always felt likely there would be a Chelsea to Villa move to balance things a little, and indeed almost immediately after the Rogers deal became concrete, this one followed suit.

It’s always impossible to judge these deals up front – so much depends on what the conditions are for the compulsory purchase, and what the fee for it is.

Usually those numbers filter out during the season. But whatever they are, at least this is one item ticked off the list for the summer as Chelsea look to trim their squad once again.

In other news…

Jacobs had been the first to report on the terms of the deal, when it became clear earlier this week that Chelsea were willing to accept a loan as long as it had a buy clause in it.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea are in talks with Aston Villa over the signing of Alejandro Garnacho, who only joined the Blues a year ago.
