Another injury scare for the India National Cricket Team as Abhishek Sharma departs from the field with visible discomfort during the initial stage of the India vs Zimbabwe 1st T20I match in Harare.
Abhishek Sharma injured himself during the third over of the match when Mayank Yadav was the bowler for India, and Dion Myer was on strike for the home team, Zimbabwe. On a pacy, short-of-length delivery from the fast bowler, the batter used his muscle power to get a boundary over the cover-point area.

Sharma was posted there and was almost on the line of the ball. As the delivery had pace and the batter applied his own muscle power, the white ball was travelling with some force. Abhishek Sharma moved his hands to grab the ball but ended up injured himself. The physio did not delay in rushing onto the ground and taking a look at the injured fielder. Abhishek left the field with the help of the physio.
Meanwhile, it would not be a wicket if Abhishek Sharma managed to hold the ball, as the umpire signalled it for a no-ball.
For the T20I series against Zimbabwe, the Indian cricket team has named their team with a bunch of emerging talents. Abhishek Sharma is among the few batters who have retained their spot in the combination in back-to-back series, after the T20Is against Ireland and England subsequently.
In the absence of Sanju Samson, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is retained in the team. He is expected to open the innings tonight with Abhishek Sharma. Ahead of the second innings, the sudden injury to Sharma has raised concerns.
