Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri and Leonardo Fornaroli in action as McLaren complete Portimao test before summer break

Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri and Leonardo Fornaroli were all in action for McLaren on Wednesday as the team carried out Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) running in Portugal.

McLaren headed to the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve – which will return to the F1 calendar in 2027 – for some extra track time in their 2023 challenger, the MCL60.

Norris, who made his F1 test debut at the venue back in 2017, completed 49 laps over the course of the day, while Piastri worked his way through 55 and F2 champion Fornaroli – part of McLaren’s Driver Development Programme and a reserve driver for the F1 squad – clocked 47.

“This test provided Leo the opportunity to observe both F1 drivers, gaining first-hand insight into not only their driving, but also in how they provide feedback to the team, as well as giving Lando and Oscar the opportunity to familiarise themselves with a circuit F1 will return to next year,” explained McLaren afterwards.

Like their rivals, some of whom also tested in Hungary this week, the Woking-based outfit will now sign off for the summer break, before F1 returns with the Dutch Grand Prix from August 21-23.
