Massive relief for the Bangladesh National Cricket Team as their experienced batter Litton Das is all set to feature in the upcoming Test match against the Australia National Cricket Team. The batter was uncertain to play the away match because of an injury.
Ahead of the match against Australia, in an official statement, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) informed that Litton Das is fit to play the match from August 13 at Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin, after completing a rehabilitation programme.
Litton Das is declared fit for the Test match against Australia
Litton Das was uncertain for the match because of a left-calf muscle injury, which forced him to remain outside the ground and kept him in doubt for selection. However, it is an encouraging update for the Bangladesh cricket team that the 31-year-old will be available to face Australia in Darwin.
“Following positive progress in his recovery from a left calf injury, Litton Kumar Das has been included in Bangladesh’s squad for the first Test against Australia, starting on August 13 in Darwin,” the Bangladesh Cricket Board mentioned in an official statement.
Litton Das is an in-form batter.
The inclusion of Das will definitely bolster the team’s batting as he is one of the batters who has been in form since 2025. According to stats, the versatile batter has scored 568 runs in Tests since 2025 in 10 innings, including a highest score of 128 and a batting average of 56.80.
His last match for the Bangladesh cricket team was against Australia in Mirpur in mid of June this year, when he scored an unbeaten 58-run knock. Overall, in 54 Test matches and 94 innings, the keeper-batter has scored 3356 runs for an average of 36.47, supported by six centuries and twenty half-centuries.
According to reports in Bangladesh media, Das is expected to fly to Darwin on Sunday to join the rest of the Bangladesh squad ahead of the tour. In the tour, the Tigers will play a 2-match Test series against the Aussies.
