Heidenreich Graduates
Pittsburgh Steelers rookie RB/WR Eli Heidenreich graduated from the Naval Academy on Friday. The team’s social media account shared a photo of Heidenreich carrying his diploma.
Pittsburgh’s OTA sessions for the week ended on Thursday, meaning Heidenreich didn’t have to miss practice for the event. He’s at least the second Steeler to attend graduation this week, joining DL Sebastian Joseph-Day, who walked across the stage at Rutgers to earn his degree.
Heidenreich is battling for a roster spot this summer. His versatility as a receiver, runner, and special teamer will be his path to sticking.
More OTA Photos
The team’s Twitter/X account shared more photos from the team’s first week of OTAs. Pictures include a healthy DeShon Elliott, back on the field after suffering a severe knee injury last season, DK Metcalf, and the duo of T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith.
Pittsburgh will return to the practice field for a second week of OTAs on Tuesday after Monday’s Memorial Day. Mandatory minicamp will be held early next month, followed by another set of voluntary sessions that wrap up June 12.
Chiefs WR In Jail
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is in jail to serve a 30-day sentence after violating his probation. Earlier this week, Rice was sent to jail after pleading guilty to third-degree felony charges related to a vehicle accident in 2024.
He received five years probation but violated its terms by testing positive for marijuana. The NFL suspended Rice for six games for the case.
Rice’s jail time means he’ll miss spring workouts with the Chiefs. The NFL seems unlikely to punish Rice again for his actions, and he’s likely to play in the 2026 season opener.
He caught 53 passes for 571 yards and five touchdowns in eight games last year.
Pittsburgh won’t play Kansas City in the regular season, meaning the two teams could only meet in a hypothetical postseason matchup.
