In-person interviews starting this week for the Toronto Maple Leafs
Pierre LeBrun: The Toronto Maple Leafs will start their in-person coaching interviews this week in phase two. It’s believed that they are down to about five candidates.
@Nylanderthews: LeBrun said on TSN Overdrive that Joe Pavelski and Patrick Roy are part of the five candidates for the Maple Leafs coaching position.
LeBrun believes that Jay Woodcroft is still part of the process; he can’t 100% confirm it.

Can the Vancouver Canucks and Montreal Canadiens swing a Brendan Gallagher deal?
The Fourth Period: The Montreal Canadiens are looking to move forward Brendan Gallagher, and he wouldn’t mind playing for the Vancouver Canucks. There is some interest on the Canucks side of things.
Gallagher has a year left on his contract at a $6.5 million cap but a $4 million salary. Agent, Gerry Johansson, was on the Donnie and Dhali Show on Monday.
“I think initially they expressed interest, but they have moving parts, too,” Johansson said. “It’s on their desk, and I do think they do have interest. It’s just a matter if it can work or not. Until it’s done, it’s never done.”

A few musings about the Minnesota Wild
Joe Smith and Michael Russo of The Athletic: If he’s not traded, can see Charlie Stramel getting a good look at training camp. He had an ankle injury at the end of the season that didn’t allow him any pro games. Don’t think he’s a future No. 1 center, but could be a middle-six guy.
Joel Eriksson will be asked about if the Minnesota Wild are going after a No. 1 center. Russo assumes Kirill Kaprizov and Matt Boldy aren’t going anywhere. If looking at Detroit Red Wings Dylan Larkin, they’re likely offering Danil Yurov, Stramel, a first-round pick, and likely a lesser player like a Ryan Hartman or Yakov Trenin if adding a forward, or a Jonas Brodin or Jake Middleton if it’s a defenseman. Middleton has a no-movement clause until July 1st.
The Wild should be looking to add some youth and speed into their bottom six. GM Bill Guerin has said they’d need to out play a veteran to get a spot.
Dylan Larkin Wants to Go to Three Teams
Smith expects coach Jon Hynes to get a contract extension this offseason. Expect RFA forward Bobby Brink to sign a bridge deal.
