TOMLIN EXCITED
Mike Tomlin coached the Steelers for almost 20 years. After plenty of success in that time, he stepped down this offseason, feeling like it was time for a change. Now, he’s working as an analyst on NBC Sports. Tomlin will appear on the network’s Football Night in America program this season.
Tomlin is excited to get going, too. Sunday Night Football on NBC posted a fun video on Twitter showing some of its analysts passing a phone to one another. Tomlin got the phone last, and he expressed excitement about working on television, saying he had just finished his first rehearsal. It will be odd not to see Tomlin on the Steelers’ sideline this year, but he’s still involved in football.
FORMER STEELERS CB RETIRES
Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon played for the Steelers in 2021 and 2022. While injuries limited him to 13 games, he still had four interceptions in Pittsburgh. Witherspoon has spent time with a few other teams in his NFL career, most recently signing with the Washington Commanders.
However, Witherspoon won’t suit up for the Commanders this season. The team announced on Twitter/X that Witherspoon has retired. While he’s still only 31 years old, it looks like Witherspoon has decided to call it a career. He was in the league for nine seasons and had a solid career. Here’s hoping he enjoys the next chapter of his life.
AIRLINE’S SPECIAL FLIGHTS FOR STEELERS-JAGUARS
The second half of the Steelers’ schedule this season looks daunting. There’s a stretch where they’ll play several teams that made the playoffs last year. That includes a Week 14 matchup at the Jacksonville Jaguars, who won their final eight regular season games last season.
Steelers fans in Pittsburgh who want to make the trip for that game are in luck, too. WPXI shared on Twitter that Allegiant is offering special non-stop flights to Jacksonville for the Steelers game. It’s a long haul, but hopefully, plenty of Steelers fans take advantage of this offer and represent Pittsburgh well.
