The Miami Dolphins claimed rookie tight end Jeremiah Fanklin off waivers on Wednesday, the team accounted. To make roster space for Franklin’s, they waived edge rusher Seth Coleman-Lyles. The move joined the earlier reported addition of defensive tackle Fatorma Mulbah, who replaced injured rookie defensive tackle Rene Konga. Konga was placed on injured reserve in the moves.
Franklin went undrafted out of Boston College this spring, signing with the New England Patriots two weeks ago. He was waived Tuesday by the Patriots when they claimed wide receiver Tejhaun Palmer, who was waived by the Arizona Cardinals. Franklin appeared in 44 games at Boston College, including 30 starts, catching 93 passes for 1,010 yards and six touchdowns.
Coleman-Lyles signed a futures contract with the Dolphins at the end of the 2025 season, joining the team for all offseason training program activities this year. He originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois, signing with the Seattle Seahawks. He spent time last year on the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad.
The addition of Franklin gives the Dolphins six tight ends on the roster as they continue through the 2026 training camp period and build toward next week’s first preseason game. South Florida Sun-Sentinel reporter David Furones indicated presumptive starter Greg Dulcich returned to practice but was wearing a red no-contact jersey during Thursday’s training camp practice. Dulcich is dealing with an undisclosed injury.
Head coach Jeff Hafley spoke about Dulcich’s status on Tuesday, indicating it was not a major issue, but adding, “I would say for Dulcich, just being truthful with you, probably back in that Washington timeline.” Miami faces the Washington Commanders on Friday, August 14 during the first week of the preseason.
