Player’s irons: Callaway Apex Ai 150
The Callaway Apex Ai 150 was the longest player’s iron of 2026. It earned a 9.8 distance score and gave better players more ball speed than they would typically expect from a compact iron with minimal offset.
However, that distance came with a tradeoff. The Apex Ai 150 finished eighth overall and posted a 7.9 forgiveness score. Testers also noticed occasional hot shots that made distance control less predictable. This is the best Callaway player’s iron for a golfer who wants more speed but it is not necessarily the best choice for someone who prioritizes consistent carry distances above everything else.
Player’s distance irons: Callaway Apex Ai200
Callaway did not enter a new model in the 2026 player’s distance iron test so the Apex Ai200 remains its best current option in this category based on our most recent test results.
The Apex Ai200 finished third overall in the 2025 test and performed especially well for distance and accuracy. It gives golfers a compact, more refined shape while still producing the speed expected from a player’s distance iron. Forgiveness was its weakness. A proper fitting and gapping session will be especially important with this one.
Game-improvement irons: Callaway TI Fusion 250
The Callaway TI Fusion 250 is the best all-around Callaway iron of 2026. It finished second overall in the game-improvement test while placing third for accuracy and distance. It also earned a solid 8.8 forgiveness score.
Unlike some of Callaway’s more distance-focused models, the TI Fusion 250 did not have one major performance weakness. It delivered speed, launch and relatively consistent results. It’s also a clean-looking game-improvement iron.
The downside is the premium price.
Golfers who want Callaway distance without paying for the TI Fusion 250 should also consider the Quantum Max. It finished second in the category for distance but was less impressive for accuracy and forgiveness.
Mishits were more punishing and tester feedback on the sound was mixed.
Super game-improvement irons: Callaway Quantum Max OS
The Callaway Quantum Max OS finished second overall in the 2026 super game-improvement iron test. It earned a 9.2 accuracy score and a 9.3 distance score, one of the strongest combinations of power and accuracy in the category.
Its 8.8 forgiveness score was good but not category-leading. That is worth remembering because the oversized shape and “OS” name may lead golfers to assume forgiveness is automatically its greatest strength. Testers also had mixed opinions about the sound and shiny chrome finish.
Still, the Quantum Max OS is the best Callaway option for a higher-handicap golfer who wants plenty of distance without giving up too much accuracy.
Which Callaway iron is best for you?
Distance is the common thread running through Callaway’s 2026 iron lineup but the longest model is not automatically the best model for your game.
Callaway gives you plenty of distance in every category. The real decision is how much forgiveness, consistency and control you are willing to trade to get it.
