Coach Education at the Heart of Sitting Volleyball Activation in Singapore < World ParaVolleyWorld ParaVolley

World ParaVolley continued its Sitting Volleyball Activation programme in Singapore last Friday with a dedicated workshop focused on coach education and grassroots development.

Led by World ParaVolley Coach Tutor Matt Rogers, the two-hour workshop brought together 25 participants from across Singapore’s sporting and Para sport community. Representatives from Sport Singapore (SportSG), CoachSG, Volleyball Singapore, ParaSport Academy, Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) and the Singapore National Paralympic Council (Singapore NPC) were among those taking part.

The programme combined theory and practical activities, introducing participants to the fundamentals of Sitting Volleyball while exploring how effective coach education can support the sustainable development of the sport.

“It was fantastic to see such a diverse group of organisations coming together with a genuine interest in developing Sitting Volleyball in Singapore,” said Matt Rogers, World ParaVolley Coach Tutor. “The workshop was a great opportunity to introduce everyone to the potential of the sport through coach education, but also to listen and learn from the participants on what they want to achieve in the coming years. Building local coaching knowledge and strong partnerships will be essential if we are to create sustainable opportunities for more people to experience and play Sitting Volleyball in Singapore and beyond.”

Participants experienced a range of practical activities designed to demonstrate the unique technical, tactical and movement demands of Sitting Volleyball, as well as the opportunities the sport provides for inclusive participation at club level.

The workshop forms part of World ParaVolley’s ongoing efforts to develop local knowledge, strengthen coaching pathways and support the growth of Sitting Volleyball in new and existing markets.

With a strong network of sporting and Para sport organisations now engaged in Singapore, the workshop provided an important opportunity to build connections and identify future opportunities for coach education, player development and Sitting Volleyball activation across the country.
