NIGHT PRACTICE ATTENDANCE
Steelers training camp underwent many changes this year. With Mike Tomlin gone and Mike McCarthy as the team’s head coach now, that isn’t too surprising. However, one of the more unexpected changes was the Steelers’ annual night practice moving from Friday to Saturday. Despite that shift, it was still a success.
Steelers assistant director of communications Michael Bertsch posted on Twitter that the team’s night practice had an attendance of 8,499. That’s a great turnout, showing how passionate the fanbase is. The Steelers haven’t won a playoff game in almost a decade, and yet, they still get a lot of support.
Beanie To Bears
Former Steelers CB Beanie Bishop Jr. has landed in Chicago. On Sunday afternoon, the Bears announced the team signed Bishop to their training camp roster.
Bishop was a 2024 undrafted free agent who signed with the Steelers. He made an immediate impact with four interceptions as a rookie, including two off QB Aaron Rodgers against the New York Jets. But he lost playing time to Cam Sutton down the stretch and failed to make the 53-man roster out of camp in 2025. He’s since bounced around with several teams and is suspended for the first three games of the 2026 regular season. He’s still allowed to play in the preseason.
He’ll try to play well this preseason in the hopes of being kept by Chicago and able to contribute once he serves his suspension.
PATRIOTS KICKER WAS STEELERS FAN
The Steelers reside in Pittsburgh, but their fans can be found all over the world. There are plenty of examples of Steelers fans taking over opposing teams’ stadiums. They even showed out in full when the team traveled to play in Ireland last year. The Steelers have one of the league’s largest fan bases.
That used to include New England Patriots kicker Andres Borregales, too. He recently revealed on the El Jefe Energy Show podcast that he was a Steelers fan growing up. However, the Patriots drafted him in the sixth round last year, ending his Pittsburgh fandom. He’s competing against them now, with both teams vying to win the AFC.
STEELERS AT HOF
The 2026 NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame class didn’t include any Steelers. However, there’s a good chance that Pittsburgh will be represented in 2027, Ben Roethlisberger’s first year of eligibility. There are already many other former Steelers in the Hall of Fame waiting for him to join their group.
Jerome Bettis shared a picture on Twitter of the Hall of Fame Steelers together. The Steelers are one of the NFL’s most accomplished franchises, so it’s no surprise that they’re well-represented in the Hall of Fame. Hopefully, next year’s picture includes at least one new face.
