Updates confirmed for Coaching Course pre-requisites and fees < World ParaVolleyWorld ParaVolley

World ParaVolley has announced a series of updates to its Coaching Courses, aimed at improving accessibility, recognising prior experience, and strengthening coach development pathways worldwide.

Moving forward, the Level 1 Coaching Course fee has been fixed at 100 EUR – the amount used in 2025 as a launch promotional offer.  This now matches the registration fee for Level 2 Coaching. Additionally, to support global development, coaches from certain developing countries, as defined by the World Bank, may apply for a 50% course fee discount.

The eligibility has also expanded for direct entry into the Level 1 course. Coaches who hold a valid, comparable coaching qualification issued by their National Paralympic Committee may now enrol directly at Level 1.  In addition, athletes who have competed as Sitting Volleyball athletes at a World ParaVolley-sanctioned event are also eligible to go straight to Level 1. This makes the full list:

General pre-requisites: Must be at least 18 years old
Sporting pre-requisites:
– Minimum 3 years experience coaching a club or national team, and
– Completion of VolleySLIDE e-learning, or
– Hold a valid national Coaching Volleyball qualification, or
– Hold a valid FIVB Level 1 or 2 Coaching Volleyball qualification, or
– Hold a valid comparable National Paralympic Committee coaching qualification, or
– Have competed at a World ParaVolley event as a Sitting Volleyball athlete

Additionally, the possibility to bypass Level 1 if you are a holder of a valid national Level 2 or above Coaching Volleyball qualification, or a valid FIVB Level 1 or 2 Coaching Volleyball qualification (recognition of prior learning) has been extended until the 2028 Paralympic Games.  Meaning the full list of pre-requisites for starting Level 2 is:

General pre-requisites:
– Must be at least 21 years old
– Have a supporting letter from WPV member (where applicable)
– Minimum 12 months since completing WPV Level 1 Coaching
Sporting pre-requisites:
– Have a minimum of 5 years experience of coaching a club or national team, and
– Hold the WPV Level 1 Coaching Sitting Volleyball qualification, or
– Hold a valid national Level 2 or above Coaching Volleyball qualification, or
– Hold a valid FIVB Level 1 or 2 Coaching Volleyball qualification
